This page describes how content on FirmwareUpdates is created, checked, updated, and corrected.
How guides are created
Every guide starts with a real question people ask about a real device. Before publishing, each guide is researched against the manufacturer’s current official documentation, tested on a physical device where we have one (our test bench), illustrated with our own screenshots and photos, and reviewed for the things that matter most in this niche: accuracy of menu paths, safety warnings before risky steps, and an honest answer to “should you even do this?”
Our tools
We use software tools, including AI-based tools, to help with research, drafting, and editing. Every published fact, step, and version number is verified by a human against official documentation or a real device before it goes live — no guide is published without human verification, because in this niche a wrong instruction can damage someone’s hardware.
Independence
No manufacturer, advertiser, or affiliate program sees our content before publication, pays for coverage, or influences a recommendation. Advertising and affiliate revenue (disclosure) fund the site; they don’t steer it. When a manufacturer’s update causes problems for users — ink lockouts, removed features, bad releases — we say so.
Updates and freshness
Firmware changes constantly, so maintenance is part of the job: every guide displays a verified date (last human re-check of the steps — cosmetic edits don’t refresh it), and version tables/trackers display a “current as of” date with a scheduled re-check interval. A guide that can no longer be verified gets corrected or unpublished, not left to rot.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it — usually within 48 hours of a verified report — and material corrections are noted on the affected page (“Correction, [date]: …”). Trivial fixes (typos, formatting) are made silently. Found an error? Report it here — corrections from readers make the site better and we mean that.
What we will never publish
Links to firmware files hosted anywhere other than the manufacturer’s official source; instructions we could not verify against a device or current official documentation; and “tested” claims for devices we haven’t tested — guides based on documentation alone say so.
